09 Nights /10 Days – Tour of Sri Lanka
Day 1:
AIRPORT/ PINAWELLA/ HABARANA
Arrival in Sri Lanka.
You will be met on arrival at the
Bandaranaike International Airport by our LUXE ASIA representative who will
assist you with your luggage and guide you to your vehicle where your personal
chauffeur guide awaits.
Transfer from
Colombo to Pinawella.
The
Pinawella Elephant Orphanage is one of Sri Lanka's most popular tourist
attractions. The orphanage's population has now mushroomed to around 65, making
it the world’s largest collection of captive elephants. The elephants here
range in age from newborns to elderly matriarchs, and include orphaned and
abandoned elephants, as well as those injured in the wild.
Transfer from Pinawella to Habarana.
Habarana – the central point of Sri Lanka’s cultural
triangle and the most convenient base for excursions to the Ancient historical
cities – Anuradhapura 60 minutes, Polonnaruwa 45 minutes, Sigiriya/Dambulla 30
minutes, Ritigala 10 minutes and Minneriya National Park (site of the renowned
“Gathering” of over 300 Elephant between July and September) 15 minutes. Though
in the “Dry Zone” of the country, thanks to the genius of ancient kings the Sri
Lankan “dry zone” is anything but dry, with hundreds of lakes and reservoirs
connected by an elaborate network of canals making up a fascinating irrigation
system which also provides some of the most breathtakingly beautiful scenery
and fertile habitat for Sri Lanka’s incredible bio-diversity.

Day 2: HABARANA/SIGIRIYA/MINNERIYA

Transfer
from Habarana to
Sigiriya.
Climb the 5th
century Sigiriya Rock fortress which is a UNESCO world heritage site, built by
King Kashyapa(477-495). The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya rises sheer and
impregnable out of the plains of the dry zone. It is the country’s most
memorable single attraction, a remarkable archeological site made unforgettable
by its dramatic setting. The rock was the innermost stronghold of a 70 hectare
fortified town. A moat, rampart and extensive gardens including the renowned
water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of
the
'Heavenly
Maidens' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by
a spiral stairway.

Sigiriya to Habrana .

Day 3: HABARANA
/MATALE/KANDY
Breakfast at the

After breakfast
proceed to Kandy en-route visiting a spice garden in Matale to see spices
growing in their natural habitat and learn about spices and their use in Sri
Lankan cuisine.
Enjoy
a sightseeing tour of Kandy which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The historic
city about 480m above sea level surrounded by mountains was known to Sri Lankan
as Kanda Uda Rata, which means the hill country. Kandy was home to Sri Lanka's
last independent Kingdom, which survived two centuries of colonial incursion
before finally falling to the British at the beginning of the nineteenth
century. Early evening, you will visit a Kandyan Dance performance and be
treated to a spectacular fire walking finale.
Kandy
is also famous for its shopping, gems and jewelry, handicrafts, batiks, silks etc.
And you
will have the opportunity of browsing to your heart’s content.

Day 4: KANDY/PERADENIYA/KANDY

Visit the
Royal Botanical Garden after breakfast.
The Botanical
Gardens is 147 acres in extent, stated in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the
Kings of Kandy. There are more than 5000 species of tree and plants as well as
some rare and endemic flora from the tropical world. Spice Garden and Orchid
House are popular with tourists. This is haven not only fir Scientists but to
every nature lover as well.
The afternoon
will be spent sightseeing Kandy including Arts & Crafts workshop, Oriental
Market Place, Bazaar and Gem Lapidary.

Day 5: KANDY/NUWARA ELIYA

Transfer from
Kandy to Nuwara Eliya.
Nuwara Eliya
meaning "the city of dawn" is the town at the highest elevation
(about 2000m above sea level) in Sri Lanka and its tallest peak,
Piduruthalagala (2555m) could be seen from here. The city, established by the
British in the nineteenth century, and known as "Little England" and
is a popular holiday resort for Sri Lankans & tourists due to its cool
climate and quaint colonial feel with its little bungalows surrounded by
hedgerows. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of the tea country and you can visit
a plantation and a factory en route here and witness how the famous
"Ceylon Tea" is brewed.

Nuwara Eliya to Colombo en route visit Kitulgala.

rafting excursion and transfer to beach hotel of choice. This short but
exhilarating excursion is “level 03 “and is suitable for most people between
the age 08 to 60. This can be booked and paid direct at site.
Beruwela – situated on the south west coast, at the confluence of the sea and the Bentota river, the sun drenched
location and its golden, palm-fringed beaches which border the warm, sparkling
waters of the Indian Ocean made it a natural choice for development as the first
tourist resort. Beruwela has a complete range of tourist facilities, great
seafood and very popular water sports centres which provide boating, water
skiing, jet skiing, snorkelling and wind surfing.

8: FREE DAY ON THE BEACH
